How dare a people subjugated to over 800 years of oppression by British Imperialist forces create a successful resistance movement that regained control of 26 counties and installed an independent state named the Republic of Ireland.

And don't even get me started on those French Republicans. Birthing one of the first republics on the continent of Europe in modern times and ousting a tyrannical monarchy. Assholes.

And speaking of democracies, how dare Plato talk about a republic...what was he, some sort of bigot?
